Foreign policy analyst Malcolm Nance joined Wake Up With WURD with Solomon Jones to break down the ongoing ICE protests in Los Angeles. Nance explained how the paramilitary-style operation is being federalized and shed light on the tension between state and federal powers.

Shekhinah B., curator of Philadelphia’s third annual Juneteenth Wine & Arts Festival, spoke with Soulful Sunrise host Karen Taylor Bass about her decision to remove vendor fees this year. Shekhinah emphasized the importance of uplifting Black-owned businesses and spotlighting Black wineries across Pennsylvania.

Leah Litman is an author and law professor at the University of Michigan. Litman spoke with Dr. James Peterson on Evening WURDs about the conservative nature of the Supreme Court and her theory on how the political branch only protects certain demographics.

Meg Berlin, organizer of Saturday’s “No Kings Coalition” march, joined Wake Up With WURD to talk about the protest’s anti-Trump agenda and efforts to block a Senate bill proposing deep cuts to Medicaid and food assistance programs affecting millions.

Attorney Keir Bradford-Grey, who leads the civil rights litigation department at Marrone Law Firm, joined Evening WURDs to discuss a recent Philadelphia Inquirer article exposing the use of warrantless GPS monitoring on teens. She explained how many of the youth being tracked are first-time, nonviolent offenders.
