Della Clark is the president of the Enterprise Center in Philadelphia. Clark joined Wake Up With WURD with Solomon Jones to talk about “Ready Set Grow,” WURD’s initiative to help local businesses prepare for the influx of business during the country’s semiquincentennial year. Clark also discussed the importance of strategic planning and execution and stressed that financial readiness is key.

Carvin Haggins is a Grammy-winning producer and multi-platinum songwriter known for shaping the sound of contemporary R&B and soul. Haggins joined Tiffany Bacon on The Midday Break Room to discuss the impact and significance of the Million Man March, which he attended in 1995. He also touched on his collaborations with Jill Scott, Mary J. Blige and more.

Raelle Myrick-Hodges is the director of the theatrical play “FIRE!!,” which is about the 1926 literary magazine of the same name, created by literary giants like Zora Neale Hurston, Langston Hughes, and Wallace Thurman. Myrick-Hodges joined Evening WURDs with Dr. James Peterson to discuss the play’s immersive experience and the impact of the Harlem Renaissance on young Black creatives.

Laura Dagley is the author of “The Polluter Next Door,” and Tonyehn Verkitus is the executive director of Women for a Healthy Environment. Both joined ecoWURD Magazine with P.O.C. to talk about the ongoing fight for clean air and environmental justice, how air pollution continues to impact Philadelphia neighborhoods and public health, and they shared the urgent need for stronger community-based solutions.

Jamie Oxendine joined Wake Up With WURD to talk about the controversy surrounding Columbus Day versus Indigenous Peoples’ Day. He explored the implications of celebrating Christopher Columbus, whose brutal treatment of Native Americans included enslavement and the near-annihilation of an entire tribe. Oxendine also discussed how the Trump administration is moving backwards in Native American relations.
