Michael Sierra-Arévalo is an assistant professor of sociology at the University of Texas at Austin. He joined Solomon Jones on Wake Up With WURD to talk about Ryan Pownall’s reinstatement as a Philadelphia police officer after shooting a Black man in the back and how the decision reverberates through the justice and policing system.

Ahsan Nasrutallah is the founder and president of JNA Capital. He joined Tonya Pendleton on Reality Check to unveil Africa Cultural Alliance of North America (ACANA) and partners’ new Africa Center at 55th and Chester Avenue as a hub for Philly’s African immigrants and descendants. 

The Immaculate Conception High School Track Team based in Jamaica won first place in the international 4 x 100 meter Penn Relay. Andrea Lawful-Sanders on The Source interviewed the student athletes after their win and their experience at the Penn Relays. 

Sergio Hyland and Christine Roess are prison rights organizers. They joined Solutions with Amadee Braxton to discuss the condition of aging prisoners with severe medical conditions and the case of Roess’ fiancé, Ezra Bozeman, who has been incarcerated for 49 years.

Lori Berman, member of the Florida State Senate, joined Evening WURDs with Dr. James Peterson to talk about the Biden-Harris administration’s efforts to protect reproductive freedom nationwide, safeguarding voting rights and gun regulations
