Lawyer and philosophy professor Dr. Tim Golden joined Wake Up With WURD with Solomon Jones to talk about the murder of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk. Dr. Golden also weighed in on whether politics played a role in the tragedy and what the aftermath could mean for Black communities.

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Trymaine Lee joined Evening WURDs with Dr. James Peterson to talk about his new book “A Thousand Ways to Die: The True Cost of Violence on Black Life in America,” which weaves together the history of African Americans and guns, his reporting on the gun industry, and his own life journey. Lee also discussed nearly dying of a heart attack at 38, an experience that forced him to confront the toll of racism, gun violence and generational trauma in Black America.

Yolo Akili Robinson is the executive director for The Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective (BEAM). Robinson joined Soulful Sunrise with Karen Taylor Bass on the anniversary of 9/11, sharing his perspective on the theme “We Will Never Forget” and discussing what collective healing looks like when looking at grief and trauma.

Dr. Roger A. Mitchell, Jr., is the 126th president of the National Medical Association, the largest and oldest organization representing the interests of Black physicians and their patients in the United States. Mitchell joined Tiffany Bacon on The Midday Break Room to talk about the role of diet in chronic illness as well as Florida’s plan to drop school mandates.

Taylor Frazier McCollum is an environmental advocate and joined ecoWURD Magazine with P.O.C. to talk about a planned data center campus in Landover, Md., which will be the largest on the East Coast. The $5 billion project promises jobs and tax revenue, but also massive energy and water demands as well as increased utility costs.
