Chubby Chicks restaurateur Shakeira Turner says she has endured two months of alleged racial harassment from residents living above her business. Turner joined Wake Up With WURD with Solomon Jones to talk about the aggressions she experienced and the overwhelming support from politicians, influencers, and patrons.

Shirley Lee Corsey is the conservator and executive director of the Black-owned Gather Place Museum. Corsey joined Reality Check with Tonya Pendleton to promote an upcoming event on the life of Susanna Warder, an enslaved woman who lived and worked at William Penn’s estate from birth until her death, at the age of 109.

City Councilmember Jamie Gauthier joined Wake Up With WURD and discussed the low-income Real Estate Tax Freeze program. Gauthier detailed how to apply and explained that the program is beneficial for Black and Brown homeowners in gentrified areas to protect them from displacement.

Dr. Kaia Niambi Shivers is the founder of Ark Republic and Black Farmers Index. She joined P.O.C. on ecoWURD to talk about the creation of Black Farmers Index, a directory connecting Black farmers with vital resources to exist and grow.

Veronica Chapman is the founder of Black Children’s Book Week. She joined Dr. James Peterson on Evening WURDs to discuss the global need to support Black child literacy and positive imagery of Black figures throughout adolescence.
