WURD’s very own Chris Murray joined Dr. James Peterson on Evening WURDs. He discussed the Eagles’ dominant win over the Kansas City Chiefs and Kendrick Lamar’s viral halftime performance.

Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Joanna McClinton joined Wake Up With WURD with Solomon Jones and reviewed the highlights of Gov. Josh Shapiro’s proposed budget. McClinton discussed the goals outlined in the budget to legalize recreational marijuana, fund public schools and regulate gaming machines.

Maria Smilios, award-winning author of The Black Angels: The Untold Story of the Nurses Who Helped Cure Tuberculosis, joined Tonya Pendleton on Reality Check to discuss her book. She shed light on the untold story of young Black nurses who, during the Great Depression, left the South for New York City to care for tuberculosis patients at the city’s municipal hospital after the white nursing workforce quit en masse.

Isaac Avilucea is a reporter for Axios Philadelphia. On Reality Check, he shared details about the Philadelphia Eagles parade which is expected to have millions of attendees. He also informed listeners about an AI graduation controversy at West Chester University.

Award-winning actor Morris Chestnut, best known for his roles in “Boyz N The Hood” and “The Best Man,” spoke on Wake Up With WURD about his lead role on the upcoming medical-mystery drama “Watson” on CBS. Chestnut discussed how his character works to solve a case in each episode and the thrills attached to a thickening plot.
