Sharif El-Mekki is the founder of the Center for Black Educator Development. He spoke with Solomon Jones on Wake Up With WURD about what budget cuts to the Education Department could mean for Black children and what Black educators and parents should do.

DJ Jazzy Jeff is a legendary DJ and West Philadelphia native. He spoke with Dr. James Peterson on Evening WURDs about the “Sonic ID” for next year’s FIFA World Cup 2026 in Philadelphia, which will be one of the theme songs featured in broadcasts, stadiums, FIFA Fan Festivals and through digital platforms throughout the tournament.

Grammy-award winning singer and member of R&B girl group Xscape, Kandi Burruss, is a songwriter, producer, and reality TV star. Burruss joined Reality Check with Tonya Pendleton to talk about her production role in Broadway’s Othello, starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Kimberly Reed is the CEO of the Reed Development Group and best-selling author of “The Optimist Always Wins.” Reed joined Karen Taylor Bass on Soulful Sunrise and talked about her personal and professional journey after being diagnosed with cancer by utilizing an unstoppable optimistic mindset.

CeCe Winans is a decorated and beloved Black gospel singer. She spoke with Dr. Peterson about what inspired and influenced her recent album. With over 45 years of experience, Winans talks about how her career has had an impact on listeners and how her faith in God has strengthened.
