Gov. Josh Shapiro joined Solomon Jones on Wake Up with WURD to discuss the state’s efforts to fight the ongoing opioid epidemic, how to combat Philadelphia’s gun violence problem and his executive order to help small businesses.

Jenny Zang lives in Chinatown and is an organizer with an Asian-American civil rights organization. She joined Tonya Pendleton on Reality Check to discuss a recent meeting about 76ers Place, the proposed arena in Center City. 

Philadelphia School District Superintendent Tony Watlington joined Wake Up with WURD to discuss the new school year, the condition of Philadelphia public schools and tax dollars being used to fund private schools. 

Sabrina M. Brooks, chair of the board of directors at the African American Museum in Philadelphia, joined Reality Check to discuss the museum’s relocation to the historic Family Court Building on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Connie K. Grier is the principal of the General Louis Wagner Middle School. She joined Andrea Lawful-Sanders on The Source to talk about the first day of school for students in the Philadelphia school district. 

Antoine Haywood, director of Diamond in The Ruff (DITR) and Karen Walker, executive producer and host of DITR, joined Carol Riddick on Love and Life to discuss their television program that spotlights entrepreneurs artists and media industry professionals.
