Denise Clay-Murray is the new host of Philadelphia City Council Live on WURD. In addition to being an independent journalist specializing in politics, she is the co-host of Philadelphia Hall Monitor on WPPM-106.5 and a regular contributor to the Philadelphia Sunday Sun. Her work has also appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Magazine, Love Now Media, Resolve Philly, MindSite News and on Time.com, the BBC, and the Australian Broadcasting Company. She has also been certified as a gun violence reporter by the Philadelphia Center for Gun Violence Reporting. 

Clay-Murray has worked at a variety of news organizations including Votebeat, the Philadelphia Tribune, Bucks County Courier Times, Elmira Star-Gazette and Reading Eagle Times. She received her degree in Broadcast Journalism from Temple University and currently serves as the President of the Society of Professional Journalists-Keystone Pro Chapter. From 2003-2005, she served as president of the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists. 

Earlier this year, Clay-Murray published her first book, “To Arm or Disarm: Addressing Gun Violence.”
