Celebrate Black History Month with WURD Radio by focusing on phenomenal Black Philly writers as we create our essential reading list to survive 2025. This event is at capacity — but you can listen to these compelling conversations during Evening WURDs on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

The evening will spotlight an intimate conversation with author, poet and leading figure in the Black Arts Movement Sonia Sanchez, creative visionary Jeannine A. Cook of Harriett’s Bookshop, and WURD Radio President and CEO Sara M. Lomax. Other featured writers include:

  • Author Lorene Cary
  • Playwright Nancy Gilliam
  • Cultural writer Tre Johnson
  • Columnist and author Solomon Jones
  • Author and spoken word poet Ursula Rucker

This event will include access to the ongoing PMA exhibit, “The Time Is Always Now: Artists Reframe the Black Figure.” If you’re interested in more Black History Month events at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, check out additional events and programs here.

Brought to you by Comcast, Keystone First and PECO in partnership with Legacy Reclaimed and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
