6/16 – Adrienne Ray is owner of Curve Conscious, your destination for gently used and never worn trendy apparel, shoes and accessories – exclusively for curvy women, sizes 12 – 24.

5/5 – John Erving is co-owner of JonMar Creations, a greeting card publisher that began with the husband wife team of John and Margaret Erving teaming to create words and artwork. The company, which has been in existence since 1995, now uses a variety of artists and writers to accomplish its mission.

4/21Robert Thomas is Founder of Milli Wear, a clothing brand founded and based out of Philadelphia. This urban clothing line highlights what Thomas calls “the journey”. Through support of and collaboration with like-minded independent musicians, photographers, and creative people, they strive to spotlight the journey of current and future market leaders. 

4/7 – Patrice Banks, owner of Girls Auto Clinic is an engineer turned auto mechanic who is on track to totally disrupt the auto industry.  Girls Auto Clinic educates & empowers women through cars. Auto repair services that cater to women, in service and in style!

3/24 – James Leggett is owner of Side of the Road Jerk Chicken, a mobile jerk chicken business. You can smell the food long before you see it.

3/10 – Jerome Mitchell is owner of The Celebration Place, a unique, all-inclusive rental venue located on historic 52nd Street in the heart of the 52nd and Market Commercial corridor. The multi-purpose venue offers a wonderful setting for various types of celebrations, gatherings and special events.

2/25 – Sherill Mosee is the inventor of the amazing MinkeeBlue.  Her product promises to revolutionize women’s handbags and the way ladies transport all that they need on a day-to-day basis.

2/11—Scherran Tate is owner of Petite Gourmet.  Her company prepares fresh, healthy AND delicious school lunches for schools in the area as well as organizations.

1/28 – Raheem David is the owner of Kingdom Karpentry, a general contracting company providing residential and commercial contracting in the tri-state area. We provide competitive pricing, efficient services with a sensitivity to time, productivity and quality. We offer a wide range of services that are certain to meet a variety of budgeting needs.

1/14 – Andre Andrews is the owner of Dre’s Homemade Water Ice and Ice Cream, a company that aims to provide the freshest, richest, and creamiest ice cream made of the most natural ingredients “the way Grandmom made it.” The company’s social mission includes heightening communities’ wealth in underserved and underdeveloped communities in the Philadelphia area. Andrews volunteers with many social service organizations and traveled with Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church to New Orleans to assist with the re-building of houses after Hurricane Katrina and travels annually to South Africa and Nicaragua to assist in serving families and children in need.  

Participants are competing to win a prize package that includes:

  • A free advertising package from 900AM-WURD
  • A $75 gift certificate toward Temple Small Business Development Center workshops
  • A $100 gift certificate toward a business workshop at The Enterprise Center 
  • Free coworker space at The Enterprise Center
  • A guest appearance on “Wake Up With WURD” with Solomon Jones
