In celebration of Women’s History Month, WURD Radio will launch its second annual LEVEL UP contest. #LEVELUP is a citywide contest spotlighting emerging Black women leaders between the ages of 18-35 living in Philadelphia.
Join us as we kick off the contest on March 5th with a special 3-hour live broadcast of Happy Hour on WURD, hosted by Syreeta Martin, on location at Green Soul Restaurant, 1410 Mt. Vernon Street, Philadelphia, PA.
The Live Broadcast will feature a dynamic discussion between Melody Spann Cooper, CEO of WVON Radio, a Black-owned talk radio station in Chicago, and Sara Lomax-Reese, President and CEO of WURD Radio, the only Black-owned talk radio station in Pennsylvania. They will be discussing the power of women-owned/led media in the fight for true equality along with Spann Cooper’s new book, “The Girlfriends Guide to Closing the Deal.” There will be a book signing immediately following the broadcast.
Additionally, the live broadcast will also be an opportunity to celebrate the “Women of WURD,” spotlighting the various voices on and off air that make WURD unique in Philadelphia and beyond.
