In partnership with WURD Radio, the Black Theatre Alliance of Philadelphia, and Theatre in the X, Philadelphia Theatre Company will host its inaugural Black Theatre Night on April 6 at 7 p.m. This event is a free, invitation-only performance and your forWURD membership is one of the few ways to get a ticket.

Set in a seedy Philadelphia bar in 1959, Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill offers a glimpse into one of Billie Holiday’s final performances. The production will feature some of the best jazz talents in the industry, including local jazz star Laurin Talese in the lead role. Tiffany Bacon, WURD’s Creative and Production Director, radio host and the costume designer for the production, is hosting the event and leading a talkback with Talese.
