Account Manager
WURD Radio is looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious, resilient, and self motivated sales professional who is interested in becoming a part of a growing radio station that delivers a unique interactive talk format to the Philadelphia community. You will be responsible for creating and presenting radio and digital media marketing strategies and sponsorship opportunities to new and existing businesses, services and corporations of all levels. Technical Producer

Job Duties 

  • Work in collaboration with hosts, guests or other program contributors, in order to perform quality assurance to meet established production standards, rules and regulations. 
  • Work the board for live and studio shows. 
  • Follow station format and guidelines. 
  • Follow applicable laws and FCC regulations. 
  • Cue hosts about when to take commercial breaks. 
  • Play commercials, promotional spots, station ID and public service announcements on time according to the commercial log.
  • Operate WURD TV and log appropriate show names, hosts, and descriptions for social media broadcasting.

Qualifications: Ability to generate original ideas, and to think creatively about how to communicate them to audiences; has comprehensive knowledge of subjects relevant to specific radio genres. Excellent writing and storytelling skills; ability to tailor and adapt content for different audiences and platforms. Knows how to use a variety of recording equipment and to operate different radio studios.

High school degree or equivalent required, undergraduate degree preferred. A minimum of one year experience in video production, studio engineering, radio, or technical producing. Prior use of video and audio editing software program a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and social networking platforms.

Program and News Director

The Program and News Director is responsible for ensuring that the quality of the programming and news content is consistent with the goals and strategic direction established by the Board of Directors as embodied by the President/CEO. This includes managing the day-to-day quality, content and sound of the radio station. The Program and News Director is a member of the Company’s executive team responsible for helping the Company achieve its overall station goals.

Qualifications: Must have at least 5-7 years prior experience in the media industry, preferably radio. Experience producing in the talk radio and news format. Understanding digital media, social media, audio and video editing a plus. Must have strong organizational and management skills and excellent oral, interpersonal and written communication skills.

Intern:

Internships at WURD are designed for college students interested in pursuing careers in marketing, radio broadcasting and production, political science, African American studies, video production and editing, public relations or journalism. This is a great opportunity to get first-hand exposure to the operation of a busy multimedia enterprise, learn about its key functions and roles, and contribute to fulfilling projects. You will also leave with content for your portfolio, a professional recommendation and valuable experience.
