Education in Black and White

Education in Black & White: The Institute for Colored Youth, Octavius V. Catto, and the Struggle for Education presents a city wide festival celebrating some of the heroes and sheroes in the struggle to educate African Americans.
October 2015 will see 23 programs in locations throughout Philadelphia: a teacher’s workshop, films, lectures, and panels in libraries, educational, religious, historic and cultural venues. These programs will examine the history and legacy of the Institute for Colored Youth and related issues.
