You’re invited to a special edition of the Black WURDs Book Club! Join WURD Radio CEO Sara Lomax-Reese and Harriett’s Bookshop owner Jeannine Cook on May 12 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for an exclusive interview with legendary author Alice Walker, appearing virtually, on her new book “Gathering Blossoms Under Fire.”

Kicking off the event will be Philly native and singer, Laurin Talese!

This year also marks the 40th anniversary of Walker’s iconic book “The Color Purple.”

For those who have RSVP’d, proof of COVID vaccination and I.D. are required for admission.

If you haven’t RSVP’d the deadline has passed, but you can still tune in on 96.1FM, 900AM, wurdradio.com, the WURD APP, and on WURD TV via Facebook @ForWURD or Twitch @WURDRADIO.

This is also a great time to support independent Black media. If you join or renew your forWURD membership at the Sustaining level during the month of May, you will receive a free copy of Alice Walker’s “Gathering Blossoms Under Fire.” There will be an opportunity to buy or renew a membership at the event.
