Kenneth Burns, WHYY’s New Jersey reporter, joined Tonya Pendleton on Reality Check to discuss the Camden City School District Advisory Board meeting that abruptly ended in protest. Protestors demanded for the embattled Advisory Board President Wasim Muhammad to resign or be fired after a student alleged that Muhammad sexually assaulted her when she was his student in middle school.

The 2024 Community Impact Award Winners were selected for their dedication to increasing wellness in our communities. On Monday, September 2 we featured Horace Delisser M.D., Edith Mitchell M.D. (posthumously), Scott Charles, and Marianne Fray as they spoke about their life journeys and achievements. Lindsey McLendon joined Dr. James Peterson on Evening WURDs for the Center for American Progress segment and discussed her column, “Kamala Harris Knows How To Make Communities Safer.” The column explores Harris’ record over her decades-long career and her commitment to reducing gun violence.

Evan Feeney of Color of Change joined Solomon Jones on Wake Up With WURD about the dismantling of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs across the nation. Feeney defines what DEI programs achieve and outlined how major corporations are giving support to right-wing politicians.

State Sen. Vincent Hughes spoke to Dr. James Peterson about a Black male voter coalition for Vice President Kamala Harris, its diversity and the success of the short-notice event. Senator Hughes then discussed how voter provocateurs from foreign election entities have targeted Philadelphia’s Black men voters.
