WURD Speaks – Rhythms of Resistance: Protest Music Past and Present
Written by Kwasa Mathis on July 12, 2017
WURD Speaks Black Music Month celebration examined the music of our struggle — yesterday and today — artists who carried the torch in times past and those who continue to keep the torch lit.
We know that music has played a pivotal role in every movement for Black liberation. Today is no different. This interactive event included a powerful panel that explored the sounds of social justice in our community.
Panelists Include:
James Peterson Ph. D – Author and Director of Africana Studies and Associate Professor of English at Lehigh University
Ursula Rucker – Poet and Spoken Word Artist
ARSIN – Rapper and Community Activist
Dr. Fredara M. Hadley – Oberlin College
