This dynamic and interactive Youth Mayoral Summit will unite young men and women from across the Philadelphia region to learn about local government and the voting process.

Guided by educator-activist Brother Shomari and educator-youth advocate Dr. Chuck Williams, YouthWURDs features teen-focused conversation led by a rotating group of dynamic and inspiring Philadelphia high school students.

While we all need to stand up and do our part to eliminate racism and injustice, very few of us like to have our arms twisted to advance the issue.

On February 28, 2015 – the third anniversary of Trayvon Martin’s death – Arcadia University hosted “Letters to Trayvon” – the culminating event of an engaging project celebrating Black men and boys through art and conversation.

In my experience, feisty babes are born, not made, the product of generations of women who repeatedly defied expectation and societal norms to do things their way. It’s time that they were celebrated.
