WURD’s Eye on Education series tackles the difficult issues currently facing the Philadelphia education system with a particular focus on models of success both locally and nationally. Our final event is the WURD Speaks: Eye on Education Symposium on September 30 at the Franklin Institute.

From August 25 to September 7, WURD partnered with Global Citizen 365, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Philadelphia Daily News, the School District of Philadelphia and Uber to collect school supplies for donation to the School District of Philadelphia. On September 15, the supplies will be presented to the principal and students at James Rhoads Elementary School in West Philadelphia.

If past is prologue, Budweiser Made In America, the Labor Day concert series helmed by Hip Hop impresario Jay-Z, will gross over $5 million. How much of that money will go directly into Philadelphia’s coffers? None.

WURD’s Eye on Education series continues on September 13 at the State of Education panel organized by the Philadelphia Community of Leaders, and wraps up on September 30 with our WURD Speaks: Eye on Education community forum. Click the headline to RSVP and get more details.
