On Sunday, July 25th, Wake Up With WURD host Solomon Jones and the Rally for Justice Coalition organized a town hall meeting at Mother Bethel AME Church. The event was a follow up to the firing of 13 Philadelphia Police Officers who posted racist comments on Facebook. The initial discovery was made through the Plain View Project, a database tracking racist, sexist, and violent posts made by police officers.
Solomon organized an initial protest in front of the police headquarters on June 7th, and worked with others to form the Rally for Justice Coalition days later. They will continue to advocate for the firing of additional police officers who were pointed out in the database. Read articles about their advocacy and impact.
