Sept. 15: Presentation of Back-to-School Supplies to Philadelphia Public Schools

Written by on September 14, 2014

From August 25 to September 7, 900AM-WURD partnered with Global Citizen 365, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Philadelphia Daily News, the School District of Philadelphia and Uber to support deserving Philadelphia students by collecting school supplies for donation to the school district.

Back-To-School Supplies Drives were hosted  at more than thirty-five local businesses. The supplies were collected and driven by Uber to the Philadelphia Inquirer/Daily News Schuylkill Printing Plant in Conshohocken, where they were sorted and packed by Global Citizen volunteers.

On September 15 at 11:00 A.M., the supplies will be transported by a Philadelphia Inquirer/Daily News delivery truck and presented by the project partners to the principal and students at James Rhoads Elementary School in West Philadelphia (4901 Parrish St., Philadelphia, PA). Sara Lomax-Reese, our President and General Manager, will be present to represent WURD.

The Back-To-School Supplies Drive is a partnership among 900AM-WURD; Global Citizen, which organizes the annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service; Interstate General Media, owner of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News, and; Uber, a mobile app that connects riders with professional drivers on-demand at the tap of a button; and the School District of Philadelphia.
