Sara Lomax-Reese Appointed to the Institute for Journalism in New Media

We are proud and excited to announce that WURD’s president and CEO, Sara Lomax-Reese, has been named one of five new appointees to the Board of Directors of the Institute for Journalism in New Media. Congratulations, Sara!
The Institute for Journalism in New Media was created earlier this year by philanthropist H.F. “Gerry” Lenfest to advance the development of quality local journalism. Lenfest also donated Philadelphia Media Network (owner of the Inquirer, the Daily News, and Philly.com) to the Institute, which was then placed under the umbrella of the Philadelphia Foundation.
One of the Institute’s priorities is to “foster experiments in ways of delivering the news, and open philanthropic avenues to fund journalism.” Sara noted that she is looking forward the work of this innovative collective, saying “I’m excited about the opportunity, and grateful that Philadelphia is the venue for this kind of exploration. It’s such a racially diverse city, a culturally diverse city – everything you need to figure out the complexity of this issue is right here.”
