Join 900AM-WURD on Friday, July 31st, to celebrate the life and legacy of our founder, Walter P. Lomax, Jr., M.D., as we honor his birthday with a day-long tribute. We will be broadcasting live from the African American Museum in Philadelphia, 701 Arch Street, from 7am -7pm.
Dr. Lomax was a true renaissance man. Born in 1932, he was raised in South Philadelphia, graduated from Central High School, LaSalle University and Hahnemann Medical College. He was a brilliant physician, successful entrepreneur, generous philanthropist. And of course he was the owner of 900AM-WURD!
Come down to the Museum to celebrate Dr. Lomax’s birthday with the WURD family. Renew or join your forWURD movement for the special, Founders Day discount of $80. We’ll have prizes and giveaways throughout the day! There will be interviews with iconic Philadelphians who knew or worked closely with Dr. Lomax throughout the day. And at 5:00pm, Nick Taliaferro will host a panel discussion to explore Black self-determination, a principal that Dr. Lomax lived and embraced.
