ecoWURD: WURD’s Multimedia Environmental Justice Journalism Initiative
Written by Charles Ellison on July 31, 2019
Climate change, the environment, pollution, air and water are all ‘hot’ topics. Environmentalists are exploring new ways to save our planet and agencies are putting a lot of time and money into discovering solutions to what could be one of the most detrimental problems of our future.
For a little over a year, ecoWURD, WURD Digital’s multimedia environmental justice journalism initiative, has explored issues at the intersection of race, incomem, and the environment. The mission of ecoWURD is to report on how environmental issues uniquely impact Black communities across the nation. The platform is the first of its kind and has covered topics like what the Green New Deal means for Black people, the water crisis in black neighborhoods, and how Philadelphian’s could benefit from green rooftops.
