Courts Order Release of Video Showing Murder of Laquan McDonald

Written by on November 27, 2015

More than a year after a Chicago police officer killed teenager Laquan McDonald, a judge has ordered the release of an extremely graphic police dashcam video showing the murder (viewer discretion strongly advised). The video was released after freelance journalist requested it through the Freedom of Information Act.

During an October 2014 confrontation with police, McDonald, a young Black man, was shot 16 times by white police officer Jason Van Dyke. Van Dyke was charged with first-degree murder on November 24.

More information about the case is available from the Washington Post.

Thanks to a whistleblower in the city government, we now know that the police’s story of Laquan’s killing was a total lie. “A horrific execution” show support, sign the petition @
