Earlier this morning, Maryland state attorney Marilyn J. Mosby held a press conference to confirm reports that the death of Baltimore resident Freddie Gray while in police custody has been ruled a homicide. Gray died from complications related to a brutal spinal cord injury that occurred in a police transport van.

Prosecutors plan to file homicide, manslaughter and misconduct charges against six police officers involved in Gray’s arrest. The arrest itself has also been ruled illegal.
