#BEINGWHILEBLACK: WURD HOSTS FIRST LIVE RADIO BROADCASTED FORUM ON RACE, RACIAL TRAUMA and HEALING
First Big Philly-based Community Event Since Starbucks Incident to Examine Routine Racism Faced by Black America
(PHILADELPHIA, PA) – Today, WURD Radio (96.1FM / 900AM / WURDRadio.com / WURD App), the only African American owned and operated talk radio station in Pennsylvania, announced its hosting the first major LIVE radio broadcasted community conversation in Philadelphia to address history of unjust treatment of Black citizens in everyday settings. Being While Black: A Community Discussion on History, Healing and Empowerment will be a space for examining the impact of racial trauma on the community through courageous conversation, while providing pathways for healing and intentional action. We will explore the history of racial profiling and the targeting of Black America, a phenomenon that has now prompted nationwide conversation through viral videos and social media.
Done in partnership with the Courageous Conversation and Courageous Conversation Global Foundation, “Being While Black” will take place on Wednesday, May 30th, from 5:30pm – 7:30 pm ET at the African American Museum in Philadelphia, 701 Arch Street. The event will be broadcast throughout Greater Philadelphia at 96.1 FM and 900 AM, and streamed for a national audience at http://wurdradio.com or via WURD app.
This productive and powerful event will offer the opportunity for participants to share, heal and be a part of the movement for equal and unbiased treatment of Black people in American society. Participants are also encouraged to engage in the conversation through social media using #BEINGWHILEBLACK.
