Taylor K. Shaw is the youngest CEO in the animation industry and one of the brightest game changers in Hollywood. She created Black Women Animate, the first and only production company designed to change the world of animation by providing women and nonbinary animators of color with the resources needed to be influencers in the industry. Taylor is a visionary creator, writer, and activist tackling representation across the media landscape, one industry at a time. Through speaking engagements in Hollywood and features in major female-centered publications, Taylor is a respected voice in female empowerment who has encouraged thousands of women and girls to embrace their inner power. She has been invited by the world’s leading media companies and top creatives to have a seat at the table. She does content and community strategy for Vice Media and is a diversity, equity, and inclusion consultant for media companies and celebrities – teaching them to use their platform to create real, social change.
LEVELUP – KJLH Los Angeles Winner
Timirah James is an influencer in the music and tech space creating awareness around STEM and diversity in tech, as well as helping others to build great technical skills and become great programmers.
She is best known for being a Tech Evangelist and STEM leader in the Los Angeles and Silicon Beach community, along with her active roles in the hackathon realm, and mentoring through a program that she co-founded with her mother and sister called TechniGal LA (which exposes girls and women of all ages to learning and employment opportunities in STEM via free coding workshops, panels, mentorships, etc.)
Timirah is also a noted singer-songwriter, and spent most of her life as a recording artist performing at top venues such as Madison Square Garden, The Apollo Theater, and the Georgia Dome. She even released a song about her love for technology and innovation on Spotify called “Coderitis”.
Timirah became a self-taught computer engineer after dropping out of college, and spent several years building iOS mobile apps for startups throughout LA.
She utilizes her journey in music and passion for building, educating, and expanding the tech community to create opportunities for others.
LEVELUP – WURD Philadephia Winner
Martine Augustin is a Junior Criminal Justice Major, Sociology Minor on the Pre-Law Track at the illustrious Hampton University on a full ride. She is a recipient of eight scholarships as a Junior. She is amongst the top 15 percent of her class with a 3.75 cumulative GPA. Martine is the Founder and Director of Ambition Overcomes Adversities Campaign, the goal and mission is to help adolescents properly set and attain goals, while providing healthy coping mechanisms to deal with adversities one may face. Martine is active and involved on campus, currently working in the Office of Judicial Affairs as an assistant to the Dean; she also serves on the Junior Executive Council as the Director of Fundraising, Vice President of Pre Law Society, and Treasure of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. In addition, she is a member of the Junior Community Service Committee, National Council for Negro Women, Girls Rule, Service Spree, Peace and Love and Hampton University’s Blue Thunder Cheerleading Team. Last summer, she attended Duke University’s Discover Law Pre-Law Fellowship. And this year she will be in Portland interning with Nike as a Jordan Brand Ambassador working with their legal teams. She believes in giving back and servicing her community a community that gave her so much love and support, she understands that it is her duty to do so for the next child.
