The Office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General will no longer be investigating the fatal police shooting of David Jones.
1.23.18: Philadelphia – (Politics): Ms. Tiffanie Luke recalls seeing at least three missed calls on her phone Tuesday afternoon from the Office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General.
For months, Ms. Luke has called that office seeking updates to the investigation into the June 2017 fatal police shooting of Mr. David Jones. And each day, she said, the staff there, almost always the secretary, brushes her off.
But on Tuesday, Ms. Luke said there was unfamiliar urgency in the voice of Mr. Christopher Phillips, who had taken the lead on the investigation. According to Ms. Luke, who once had a romantic relationship with the deceased, Mr. Phillips informed her that the investigation will be handed back to the Office of the Philadelphia District Attorney.
Once Ms. Kelly Hodges replaced Mr. Seth Williams as Philadelphia District Attorney, she cited a conflict of interest which caused the case last summer to be bumped up to the AG’s Office, where it sat with its progress, or lack thereof, unknown to the public.
