Barbara Grant has always been a woman on fire. As a lifelong journalist and strategic communications practitioner, Barbara has reported and advised on the events and decisions that have had life changing impacts for the African American community for more than three decades. The movement for black empowerment, human rights and social justice are worth “beating the drums” about. From politics and public policy to business, economics and community development, she does thought provoking analysis and lively talk from a black perspective.
Barbara is a managing partner of her own marketing and public relations firm, Cardenas Grant Communications, and has worked in radio and television news as reporter, producer, managing editor and news and program director.
The drums have always been our soul and our heartbeat, a method to communicate when we needed to talk to each other. Her program, Talking Drum Line, airs Mondays from 1pm to 4pm using the airwaves and online communications to “beat the drum” – digging deep through our traditions for new ways to pass along the messages and progressive thinking we need to thrive.
